"Dragons-
By far the most vital creature to Pern aside from man. They breathe fire and char Thread, keeping Pern safe. Dragons are large creatures, especially the Queens, who run this matriarchal animal race. Here are some basic things about dragons.
Anatomy-
Dragons typically look like what many perceive them to be; large reptiles with forked tongues, long tails, huge wings and big heads. Pernese dragons in addition have head knobs, eye ridges which they loved having scratched, eyes which reflect their mood by swirling in a certain color, and second stomachs which are used to flame when having chewed firestone. Eye colorations are as follows:
Dragon Eye Colors:
Blue/green: Calm, Pleasure, Enjoyment
Red: Hunger, Anger
Yellow: Fear
Orange: Suspicion, Uncertainty
Purple: Lust/Heat
White: Danger
Dragon Sounds:
Bellow: Alarm, irritation or attention call.
Bugle: Joy, triumph, happiness, Challenge (Rising/chasing) or greeting.
Croon: Pleasure, reassurance or apology.
Growl: Warning, anger.
Humming: Sounded at a Hatching.
Keen: Mournful sound signifying death.
Moan: Sound of distress or anxiety.
Roar: Anger, confusion or pain.
Rumble: Amusement, happiness. Draconic equivalent of laughter.
Trill: Curiosity, pleasure, enjoyment or satisfaction.
Wail: Sadness or worry.
Warble: Self satisfaction or gratitude."

Colors
Queens:
Queens are the largest, strongest, and rarest color of dragons, and the only ones who can reproduce. They reach sexualy maturity between 2 and 3 turns and then rise twice a turn during a pass. Ninth pass Queens were often 38-45 feet long, tenth pass queens have done as dragons did through out the history of Pern and now range form 40'- 47' long. No dragon (besides an older queen) will disobey the orders of a queen. They only Impress to heterosexual woman.
Bronzes:
Bronzes are the second largest, and rarest, largest male, color of dragons. They reach sexualy maturity between 2 and 3 turns. Ninth pass bronze dragons range in size from 35-38 feet, tenth pass bronzes reach 37-40 feet in length.Commonly wingseconds, bronzepairs are nearly always the Wingleaders of the Weyr, and a Weyrleader is always the rider of the bronze who has flown the Weyr's senior queen. They only Impress to heterosexual men
Browns:
Browns are the third largest, and rarest type of dragon, and male. A brown dragon reaches sexual maturity between 1.75 turns and 2.25 turns of age. Ninth pass bronze dragons range in size from 30-35 feet, tenth pass browns reach 32-37 feet in length. Many wingseconds are brownpairs. They Impress to males of any orientation.
Blues:
Blues are the next to smallest and just about the most common color and male. They reache sexual maturity between 1.5 turns and 2 turns. Ninth pass blues range in size from 25-30 feet, and in the tenth pass they can be 27 to 32 feet in length. Blues only Impress to homosexual or bisexual males.
Greens:
The smallest and most common color of dragons. They are female, but unlike the queens, infertile. A green reaches sexual maturity anytime from 1.5 turns to 2 turns. Ninth pass greens range in size from 20-25 feet, and in the tenth pass they can be 22 to 27 feet in length. Greens Impress females of any orientation or homosexual, and rarely bisexual males.
Whites:
While there will be no whites in this RP I'm not going to ignore their existence. Ruth was and will always be the only odd colored dragon, he was smaller than a ninth pass green, but larger than the the first queen dragon. He never reached sexual maturity, and we never will be sure of his gender.
